Tips for Truncated PPC Ads
As you may be aware, Yahoo has recently cut the number of characters shown in their Pay-Per-Click (PPC) ads in the U.S. from 190 to 70, and this is likely to be followed over here in the not too distant future (Update: actually, it appears this will happen on Feb 8th, according to an email I received from the Yahoo/Overture team). There are already websites within the Yahoo network that show truncated ads of 70 characters, so how can you write ads that look good when taking into account the fact that it could be shown full length or truncated?

The ideal scenario would be to write your ad so that it appears clearly and unabbreviated for each position… Calculating truncation points gives you the maximum possibility to present effective messaging towards your target audience.
