Make Money Online has published 5 tips to make the most out of affiliates. In my opinion, the most important thing is to keep the links relevant (else there’s probably no point setting them up in the first place) and make sure they add value to the visitor.
The article gives the example of using product reviews to push affiliate clicks - not only is this for selling products to your loyal visitors, it’s also possible that you can get search engine traffic from visitors searching for that product, and who may well buy through your link if it is easily accessible.
