Miva Gives Up On Pay-Per-Call

It looks like Miva has given up on trying to get Pay-Per-Call advertising off the ground. In an email to advertisers using the system here in the U.K., they say they’ve decided to suspend their pay-per-call product:

As we continue to drive forwards with these new developments we have taken the decision to suspend our Pay-Per-Call product in the UK. This enables us to focus our resources more closely on our Pay-Per-Click product and will help ensure that we continue to lead the way in Pay-Per-Click innovation.

To be honest, this doesn’t come as a complete surprise - in the experience I’ve had of it, it has produced a very low amount of activity. And whilst I do think there is a place for it in SEM, I don’t think search engine users are really ready for it yet - I’ve been saying all along that it’ll only be once Google and Yahoo! start to push it, that it might start to see some interesting results.
