Getting Complacent with Search Engine Leads
Good advice from Aaron Wall of SEO Book, who writes a warning piece about not becoming too over-reliant on your free leads coming from the search engines.
Quoting from a forum thread at Search Engine Watch, Wall warns that companies need to ensure that their business model can stand up to the effects of good ranking being taken away overnight, for instance by an update to an algorythm.
This is a lesson that all businesses should learn - using a single channel for all your leads is leaving yourself open should the returns from that channel change. By diversifying your marketing you can potentially iron out any falls in revenue from one of your channels.
