Microsoft Tests Ad Network & Getting Into Analytics?

It looks like Microsoft will shortly be lauching a test of its contextual advertising network, according to Jensense.

At the rate they’re moving, they may well be able to steal a march on Yahoo! by launching the product to U.K. publishers before Yahoo! manage to roll out their Publisher Network to people outside the U.S..

Another thing that stood out from the press release that Jensense linked to was Yahoo!s acquisition of web analytics company DeepMetrix, which it aims to use to help advertisers. DeepMetrix developed the LiveStats series of analytics tools, so could this also be a reaction form Microsoft to Google’s purchase of Urchin, and subsequent release of Google Analytics to the masses for free?
